Product Description
The Speedo® Vanquisher googles provide a streamlined look with thin, low-profile silicone gaskets. They're set-up with a double silicone headstrap with a back buckle, 3 adjustable nose pieces and hypo-allergenic, anti-fog lenses with UV protection.

Amazon.com Product Description
Speedo's line of competition swim goggles are designed for the serious competitor. Made from the highest-quality materials available, the low-profile design of the Vanquisher Swim Goggle will give any swimmer the competitive advantage. The anti-fog, polycarbonate lens is shatter-resistant and is UV protected. The soft silicone lens gaskets sit in a low profile on your face and offer cushioned protection. For a more comfortable swim and to avoid water intake, choose the right size of nose piece from the three provided.

About Speedo
In 1914, Speedo was founded in Australia by Alexander MacRae, a 22-year-old Scottish immigrant who arrived in the country in 1910. The company began when MacRae Hosiery manufacturers, established by Alexander in 1914, extended the manufacture of underwear to swimwear and became MacRae Knitting Mills. A naming competition was held by the staff in 1928 and won by a Captain Parsonson, who coined the slogan, "Speed on in your Speedos." In 1929, the first swimsuits were in production and it didn't take long for Speedo to successfully establish itself. World War II caused the brand turn over 90% of it's manufacturing to war production, providing the armed services with vital equipment such as mosquito nets. After the war, Speedo opened a new factory and was able to re-establish itself, due to increased demand for swimsuits. In 1951, Speedo Knitting Mills (Holdings) Ltd, was incorporated and became a publicly traded company on the Sydney Stock exchange.

Speedo hit the international stage in earnest, at the 1956 Melbourne Olympic Games, and a few years later the brand grew on a more global scale. Export sales to the USA began and an international division was set up to monitor trade in New Zealand, Japan and South Africa. The expansion of the brand continued, and in 1976, Speedo was appointed as the official swimwear for the 1976 Montreal Olympics, where 52 out of 54 countries wore their swimsuits.

Speedo continues to make its mark in the pool and on the beach today. Many world class athletes who wear Speedo include U.S. phenomenon Michael Phelps, legendary Australian swimmer Grant Hackett, world record holder Kosuke Kitajima from Japan, and Holland's Inge de Bruijn.

5 out of 5 stars Great value for the money   September 3, 2010
J. Hannah (Deadwood, SD)
I swim a mile per day in the pool for exercise. I hate goggles that leak - the chlorine drives me nuts. After reading the reviews, I purchased these from Amazon.

They never leaked or fogged up in seven months of use. I would probably still be using them, except I left these at the pool - never to be seen again. Hopefully, someone is still getting quality use out of them.

Out of curiosity, I replaced these goggles with the Speedo Vanquisher plus goggles after reading the reviews. Not much of a difference, but I prefer the Vanquisher plus goggles. They seem like they are built a little stronger. For the difference in price, I would recommend the Vanquisher plus goggles.

However, these served me well in the period of time I used them - no complaints. Certainly one of the better values you will get for your dollar on goggles.

4 out of 5 stars Good, but the nose piece is not adjustuable   June 28, 2010
SPB-RU (CA USA)
These goggles fit me well and seal water off fine. I wish I could make the nose piece a little shorter, but it is not adjustable. I found it strange, especially because the manual that came with these goggles talks about adjusting the nose piece. These work for me, but may be uncomfortable for others.

I normally use the cheap off-the-shelf goggles from Target for my swimming, but I thought I'd give these a try when they went on sale so cheap. Unfortunately, my eyes must be too large or too far apart or something, because I could never adjust these goggles so water didn't get in my eyes. They are smaller than other goggles I've used in the past, which probably explains it.

4 out of 5 stars Good, but the Vanquisher Plus is better   June 12, 2010

I have some Vanquisher Plus goggles that never leak, but these do, just a little - not bad. Nonetheless, they are good goggles. I really can't see the difference between the two goggles when I compare them side to side, but I wonder if the Plus' have a slightly better material which improves the seal. In any case, I would spend an extra buck and get the Vanquisher Plus next time around.

5 out of 5 stars Does the job well   June 3, 2010
Aaron (Washington, DC)
If what you're doing is swimming laps in the pool, then these goggles do the job well. I'm glad they work so well.
